Hey guys i looked up online but still want to get some fresh answers...
Since my bass came back from the tech i didn't played it much. Tonight i picked it up and noticed that the action is a little high closer to the bridge. The truss rods may need a second adjustment since they're brand new i think, but i fell that the strings could be a little lower on the bridge side. However i noticed that the tail is sticking up a bit, my question is: Does the tail lift affects the strings at all? The saddles are set as low as they can get. Just bought an used hipshot bridge to give it a try.
This is a pretty common problem among old Ricks. They added two extra bridge screws some time before 1986 to correct this issue. I have not heard of it affecting the strings. I imagine if the bridge lifts too high the strings won't be pulled down against the saddle strong enough to prevent moving in the saddle, but that would be some really high lift.
The Hipshot bridge is a drop-in replacement that is a popular fix.
