Left handed audio pots
Hey guys. I just joined so sorry if this is in the wrong place but I have a lefty jazz bass that has right handed standard audio taper pots and I can't wire them backwards. I have 3 reverse audio pots, now do I wire them the same way i would as a standard j bass wiring diagram? Kind of sucks fender doesn't put linear or reverse taper pots in their lefty basses. Thanks!

Hi! We are glad you have joined our forum! If you can, do take a moment to say, "hi" to everyone by posting on the introductions thread:

With that out of the way, how is your bass wired now? Are the righty pots wired backward?
If they turn how you would expect, then you just need to wire your reverse-audio pots the same way the current pots are wired.
If you have to turn the current pots in the wrong direction, then you will need to swap the two leads that are not grounded
I hope this helps. Let us know how it goes, and we would be glad to provide some more information. We are all very accustomed to pot dillemas, here!

Well since I couldn't wire them backwards because of the switch type problem, they are wired so that when I turn up they turn down. Thanks for the reply!

Then I think you need to switch the leads.
I too find it strange that a Fender would not come with lefty pots.

Reverse audio taper pots are wired in reverse as well... so in any standard wiring diagram for a jazz bass, you will swap lugs 1 and 3 and keep lug 2 the same.
I can shoot a quick picture of one of my wiring jobs when I get home... I'll upload it for you.

Here... I think you can see everything here.
Funny story... or sad, depending on how you look at it.
This harness has been completely rewired by me with all new hardware, however, that "L/H" was obviously written on there to let the electronics person working at the custom shop that day know to wire it lefty... they can be that careful, yet they STILL use righty pots to wire it.

Has this ever happened to you? You buy a lefty bass that some right handed douche flipped over so they could play it upside down, and ended up having to re-wire the pots because they found turning them in the opposite direction so confusing that they went in and re-wired it (wrong). I've actually seen that twice.
