My guess is it's a Chinese made upright, and possibly a righty conversion? But if you do get a chance to try it first hand that helps.

Good luck!

Well folks, all I can say is that this bass does not live up to its' billing. The only thing that was "converted" was the bridge was flipped and the strings were reversed. the sound post and bass bar were not switched.
It is most def a bottom of the barrel Chinese made instrument. Faux ebony fingerboard, i.e. some kind of generic wood painted black to resemble ebony. It was shaved/reshaped somewhat, but it didn't feel natural in my hands (not that I have a lot of experience with uprights). Plastic tailpiece.

The back of the neck was sanded down to the wood. Tuners are soft metal, they work fine but would need replacing at some point. No clue what kind of strings are on it.
The body was a laminate sandwich, which likely means the center was MDF. Hard to tell exactly what that center wood was tho because the F-hole cutouts had been painted over with black paint.

No side dots, just some magic marker where the dots should go.
nice stand and cover tho!

the owner is motivated to sell, so IMO it would make for a good project conversion bass if someone had the time and inclination to do so. But I ain't that guy!!
