Fender 76' (ish) P bass Walnut on the bay

Post by gravesbass »

I don't know why but I always liked the walnut finishes. But this price... Ouch!!!

Could it be a 75/76? I thought 76 they moved the logo decal to the headstock.

Waaaaay too much IMO. And 10.5 lbs to boot. Both my 75 and 76 "Mocha' P's had the same headstock logo (Fender only and not the + Precision Bass TV logo)

How much of the price has to do w/ Japanese exchange rates, market and VAT? Not that it matters if you are a US buyer, but it's not like the bass is in some shop in Brooklyn.

It looks like a '76 transitional model: the Fender logo is still in the traditional location, but the serial number is no longer on the neck plate, it has nickel-plated Fender tuners and not the chrome-plated Schaller tuners Fender started using later in '76. Pricey, yes, but anything vintage is pricey in Japan. Looks quite nice and hey, it's one pound lighter than my '75!
