Here's mine on its way to me now; L1005 ash body, vintage natural finish, quarter sawn neck, light tint satin neck finish:

This might be the very first L1005 made; there were 3 ordered, this is the first one to arrive, just waiting on the other serial #s to see who wins :)

Nothing yet, but seeing pics of yours is not helping with the waiting.

Got my L1005 - awesome! Finishes are beautiful, plays and sounds great :) Did a demo, in single coil mode, bass and treble all the way up, pardon the sloppy play but it gives you an idea (recorded directly into Garageband, clean amp setting):

Hi All,

After receiving my lefty L-1000 on Friday and playing with it for a few minutes, I realized that I still prefer my L-2000. During the weekend, I instinctively used the 2000 when I wanted to play and the 1000 stayed its case.

I am afraid it is going the same in the future and the 1000 is going to stay in the closet. This is such a shame as it is really a great bass, but I just have a bigger love affair with my 2000. I am not a professional player, not even in a band, I just play at home for fun when I have the time...

SO, this brand new L-1000 lefty is for sale. I paid $1279.00 for it, I will let it go for $1200 including shipping. Comes with the case and all paperwork, as received 2 days ago...

See here for description and pics.

Did another jam w L1005 this time coils in series, bass 100% treble 50%:

I made a vid also while recording this; figured Jersey might recognize the shirt ha ha (that's where I bought my '83 L2000):

Sounds cool! Wish I'd had a chance to participate in this custom bass run, I'd be into an L1000 made to my specs.

Thanks Andrew :) I think Greg is still taking orders because so many were ordered at first they left it kinda open ended.

All right one more clip and I'll stop; this one's coils in parallel, bass at 100% and treble about 40%:

Same finishes as mine: Vintage natural body finish; light tint satin neck finish - good choices ;)
Apparently mine is the first L1005 ever built, and it's a lefty!

jersey bluesdude wrote: June 4th, 2014, 9:26 am I ordered an original L1000 in 1980 or 81 when they first came out from Sam Ash on 48th ST in NYC. Waited about 6 weeks. When it arrived at the store we opened the case and surprise the neck was fretless! G&L shipped a fretted neck to Sam Ash in about 2 weeks and they installed it at the store. The bass was red sparkle/metallic, had an ebony fingerboard and it sounded awesome. The single humbucker in the traditional mid position was really strong sounding. Wish I still had it. Something like this only lefty of course. http://www.bassplayer.com/article/Retro ... L1000/4967
Reviving this thread, imagine if that ever pops up for sale again? It would be a blood bath! :P
