SB4000 on the way!

Post by bhunt1 »

Just bought this from Guitars in Stock:

Price got so low I had to buy it (spoken like a true addict ha ha). Even w lousy resale I think it was a steal at $658 shipped w case (more rationalization).

Thank you for buying that! I've been staring at it for the last few weeks, thinking, I don't really need another bass, and I can't really afford it right now, but DAMN what a steal. So, temptation removed! :P

Looking forward to hearing about it once it arrives….

According to the Carvin site the SB model was discontinued and replaced by a Jazz Bass clone model. FYI.
I had mixed feelings about the SB design but there was a lot of raving reviews. Now for us lefies it will be an opportunity to get a JB style with all kind of options available. Personally I'd look into getting an a Fender ADE before a Carvin though. Right-handed people on TB are asking "who needs another Jazz Bass clone?"

Didn't see this thread before. And I'm glad someone on here snagged it, 'cause I was really close to pulling the trigger on it! Let us know what you think of it once you've had a chance to play it.

Just got it, and it is sweet :) It sounds like a nice active jazz, and the combo of the tone control which works in passive or active and the 2 band preamp gives you many tonal options. I am working on recording something with it when I get it done I will post.

Here's a jam I did with the SB4000. I had the tone control at 50% and the bass boosted slightly.

Sounds Great! Nice Fender Jazz sound, but has a nice edge to it... what kind of strings are on it?
R&B Stretch Bass, Walter Woods 1000w Green-Light Stereo Amp, AccuGroove El Whappo and TR112, assorted axes, amps, cabs...

Thanks - strings are the standard Carvin round wound strings.
