In the topsy-turvy world of heavy rock, having a good solid piece of wood in your hand is often useful...

Definitely interesting, but I wonder which era Entwistle they are going for. The guy's gear and sound changed every few years.

ok, now that the adrenaline rush has subsided and some semblance of sanity has returned .... I would urge caution on this ... I do believe this Hiwatt venture is owned/funded by Music Ground in the good old U.K.

I'll get full details on Thursday of course and report back when I can as the free Wifi in my hotel sucks balls during after-NAMM hours.

Since it looks like it's only EQ and compression, it looks like it's shooting for the Leeds tone. JAE's latter day rigs used various combinations of Yamaha SPX900 and Digitech 2100 (?) - the purple faced ones - to get that grindy swirly thing going on. That and 8000 watts per side of a stereo tri-amped rig

It would be his Leeds tone, that's the one Hiwatt is associated with.

Personally I like his tone with his Alembic basses and Sunn tri-amp set up best. That mix of super clear note articulation covered in a growly layer of overdrive.

For that tone the closest I've found in a single pedal is the Brimstone XD-1.

I don't know what else to say but "epic fail". They had two of them, but one was just casing with knobs. Once they found the second one they could tell me nothing about it. Literally. To top it off they had no bass on hand to demo it with. Typical Music Ground M.O.

They also Haida 400 watt AP head on hand, but wouldn't plug it in or turn it on ......

Correctomundo. No pricing info either. Like I said, this is the Music Ground gang. I would avoid this like the plague.

It's kind of a dumb idea really. An EQ that only goes for one tone? Sounds like a shitty EQ.
