SPECIAL LB J/J Pcikup Deal

Post by Rodent »

UPDATE: All of the pickups from this special offer batch have been spoken for.

We're looking to get word out about the new pickups that will officially be included as part of our 2014 catalog offerings. Our single-coil J/J 4-string set will be introduced with a $135/set street price, and will be available with either black or cream covers.

Here's the private Lefty Bassist deal - I'm offering 5 of these sets with black covers for members here at far less than what will be OEM pricing, with a limit of 1 set per member. Each set will ship with a tracking number in mid to late December 2013 via FedEx or USPS.

So what's this special deal you ask? I bet you didn't think it'd be just $65/set shipped within the ConUS and Canada  For those outside of the ConUS and Canada, there may be an added shipping cost depending on the actual cost to ship to your destination. All VAT, duty fees, etc ... are the responsibility of the receiving party, and are not included in this special pricing.

Reservations for these 5 pickup sets will be taken in the order that PM's are received. Payment will be via PayPal to the address provided in my reply PM. This offer is not being repeated on any other forum, and is a way of saying thanks for your continued support all of these years

all the best,

R

Update: 3 sets still available

Sunday afternoon we committed a crime against Fender purists ... we performed outpatient surgery on a stock '69 Fender J-bass (fretted) that's been in our Artist Relations Manager's possession since '73. He's toured with Alan Holdsworth playing this bass, went thru Berkley with this and his upright, and made a living at NBC Studios laying tracks before moving to Seattle in the late 80's. Suffice to say, he knows -this- bass very well. Classic 60's jazz tone - but simply not capable of doing Marcus 70's J thing

Post surgery we had about 30 minutes to give it a workout before he headed off to a session ... initial comments were that it kept much of the character of the 60's J, but that it opened up the door to that 70's sound enough that he's now able to do the Marcus thing, yet still get the 60's sound with just a tweak of the tone knob. About three hours into his session I got this texted to me: AWESOME. WINNER. COMPLETELY

Time for me to get back to rollin' some homegrown ... pickups

all the best,

Shucks, don't have any four-string app for this deal... if there was a five-string set in there, with appropriate pricing, I'd be on it!
R&B Stretch Bass, Walter Woods 1000w Green-Light Stereo Amp, AccuGroove El Whappo and TR112, assorted axes, amps, cabs...

5's (P, J, and others) and 6's will be worked in to our offerings in 2014 as each offering becomes production ready

... but before I can even think of tooling up for 5's, I got this small mountain range (split-coil J4's) to get ready for a couple of our NAMM builds

all 5 pickup sets are now rolled and ready for potting up 8-) I should have these potted by end of the week (most likely sometime on Wed evening) and leads connected by end of the weekend.

once the pickup covers arrive I'll get these packaged up for shipping

I'd like to note that this batch of pickups has a LB designator on each coil, identifying these as the special deal Lefty Bassist pickups. who knows, some day that may be worth something extra on the vintage collectors market

since it's looking like I'm going to have a bit more waiting to do on parts returning from the paint shop, I could do a similar 5 sets of 4-strin P-bass pickups if there was enough interest. I'll open a new thread on the P-bass sets when I know for certain I'll be able to get them done before post-paint chaos break out here

all the best,

Winding, potting, and wiring completed on this batch of pickups. Once the black covers arrive, these will be ready to ship.

I have sent out a receipt to everybody who has sent in their PayPal. I'll update the PP transaction with the tracking numbers before shipping so you can keep aware of when these will be at your mailstop

Thanks Rod, looking forward to testing mine!
Have you considered offering a wiring harness to go with them?

I used to offer harnesses, but they always came out as a net loss due to what price the market will bear against my costs for overhead and parts. This may change as the pickups begin to take off and there's greater demand for standard type harness configurations

UPDATE 12 Dec

As of this afternoon the drilled bridge pickup covers are still on backorder at my supplier. They are targeting a 'should be in before the end of the year' arrival date :(

I have ordered solid covers (i.e. no magnet holes) and they should be in the first part of next week. I will mail out replacement covers (once my order arrives) for anybody who receives their set and wishes to have drilled covers instead.
