Pair of Fender Jazz basses

My two 1994 Fender Jazz bass '62 reissues MIJ. The white one is fitted with Di Marzio pups, the sunburst with Seymour Duncan.

Awesome! -Quick question if I may.... which DiMazio's? (Ultra jazz, Area J, Model J etc..), and how would you compare them to the Duncan's?
Cheers,
Dave

That's an interesting question. Unfortunately both basses had their upgraded pups fitted before finding their way to me. I know the model of the SD's because the box was included but not sure of DM model.

Characteristic-wise I find the SD to be hotter. More bite, louder but smoother. The DM are brighter with a nicer mid-range.
The body weight of each bass may contribute to the audible difference too as the white model is noticeably lighter.

I would think a set of flatwounds with the SD would be a perfect match.

Nice set! I have the same set of mij basses but about 10 years earlier...an E6 and an E7. My white one is basswood and lighter. The burst is heavier and most likely alder...you are probably in the same boat.. Just sent out my burst to get a refin..someone had tweaked it before me with a bunch of weird thumb rest holes....gonna get a treatment from marty bell.....I'll post pics then
Cheers!

Are the Dimarzio's pole pieces adjustable little hex screws, or do they look like regular pickup pole pieces?

Pics would be great. I have been tempted to relic my sunburst as my white one is pretty road worn and I like it that way.

Regular pole pieces.
Then they aren't Model J's.
