Looking for a lefty with bridge-humbucker

Hey guys,

I am looking for a 4-string bass with a bridge humbucker. I already played the Ibanez SR500 and SR600 Basses and I really liked them, but I also liked the Traben Phoenix. I could also imagine buying a Schecter or ESP/LTD bass (well, there aren't too many LTDs ).

I would like to stay under 500€ and a seller from Europe would be really great, but of course sellers from America who will ship internationally are welcome as well. And you don't have to offer me one of the basses named before but anything within my price range that has a bridge-humbucker.

I use a couple of mine with p/HB, because I had a lot of spare parts and a router.



but out of curiosity, why not consider a dualrail J?

that would just drop in the same hole and give you coil-splitting capability?

Well the dualrail J appears to be an option for my Squier P-Bass Special. I thought that there is a number of humbuckers which fit the recess of a J-pickup but for some reason I can't find any at the moment

I know of the MM style HB's, EMG sized HB's, the guitar style like mine have, double-j's like this red one has:



and dualrail J's. Never thought about any other style, but for no hassle drop in, the dualrail j is the easiest.

In addition to the dualrail pickups mentioned by Amimbari, there are quite a few split-coil pickups in the Jazz format. There are some Sadowskys, Nordstrands and the really cool DiMarzio Ultrajazz which is a great option if you want the lows and the punch from a bridge pickup.

You might also consider looking for a used Carvin. They can be had very affordably and they offer incredible value for money. I just had an all-black Carvin LB75 (neck through body, J-style neck pickup, MM-style bridge pickup, 5 string, active EQ) delivered two days ago that I got used in the UK for 295 Pounds including shipping to the Netherlands. The finish took a beating or two (it's really been through hell. Twice!) but it plays like butter and sounds great. A few months earlier I got a used Carvin B4 (same pickup layout but with a bolt-on neck and passive electronics, and 4-string) for only 230 Pounds, also in the UK. That's dirt cheap for a USA-made instrument, especially here in Europe. They don't come by often, but they're worth looking out for.

Carvin Basses look really nice and are definitely basses I could imagine to buy. As far as I know those basses are not that cheap when buying new (starting at ~800$) so I am really interested in where you found two (!!) of those basses for such a great price as I haven't seen any of those within my price range

I found the B4 on basschat.co.uk a couple of months ago. The black 5-string I found on eBay, but turned out to be from a basschat.co.uk-member as well so I ended up buying it outside eBay.
