New look of the board...

Post by Addison »

Very slick!

The only thing that bothers me is that the posters name and avatar are now on the right side...?

Not sure if you made it opposite of every other board because this is a lefty board or if that's just how it was "canned"... but it's freakin me out!

Actually, let me take that half back...

IE and Firefox both look OK now... Chrome still has the avatar and user info on the right side of the page.

Chrome also has a few overlap issues with the bass graphic and the black text indicating topics etc.. Love the fresh look, though.

No problems here with Firefox - looks good.

Andrew if you're reading this - the one problem that still remains is that posts in the 'Basses' forum do not show up in the 'View Active Topics' view. Is there any way to fix that?

retag made a thread about it also:

Thanks guys. Hieg has been tweaking the board as he gets a chance. We'll get everything sorted over the next few days so it's back to working 100%.

Thanks Andrew. Just to be clear on my point, the Basses Forum / Active Topics thing existed before the board upgrade.

thanks!

And it's still the case for you? Because they're showing up in the new topics for me now.

Same here, but some avatars are on top of the beginning of some people's posts.

Yup, still nothing from the Basses forum. I think it's been like that for a long time and I never realized it.

Just my opinion, but I dont like the new look. I've tried in FireFox and Chrome and the posts arent separated very well so they kind of run together and it's difficult to distinguish between where one stops and the next post starts.

just my 2 cents.

The new look has nothing to do with a desire to improve/change the look. It is a necessary evil to allow us to add extra security features so we can end the constant nuisance of spambot posts. We'll keep tweaking to get it clean and functional again.

Same problem here- "Basses" still not showing up in the active topics.

I wondered why the forum looked strange (avatars on the left, no seperation between posts except for a (p) paragraph symbol. I'm on Chrome, but after reading the posts, I opened it up in Firefox, and it looks fine. I prefer Chrome over Firefox at this point, and am wondering if Chrome will get the new look as well. What say you, oh powers that be? :?:

Does not seem to be that efficient at detering spams. We should have a bass related question to sign up like: "Are you a real bass player? what is Jaco's last name? "

Something I've noticed; in the old format, after posting a reply, I was able to scroll to the top of the page showing the thread and my reply, and I was able to click on "view new topics, active topics" etc. Now I have to click on "Board index", then on new topics, which is an extra step. Can you bring that back?
