Re: 1975 P-Bass
Just to add,
The 1975 P-Bass is the first real bass I got when i started playing. My bass went trough a lot of mods over the years but it is still my second best axe in studio.
And that bass looks as good as mine, of course on pics
It might seem expensive at $3K but I think it is a real player's axe that cost the same as any modern instrument out there.
Just to share my very positive experience with a 1975 P-Bass

Crazy... unless I'm reading it wrong, that neck was completed on the exact same day as mine!!!

01 - precision bass
03 - maple neck (it's one piece with skunk stripe)
36 - 36th week
5 - 1975
5 - completed on 5th day of week (Friday)
Awesome!

Too bad my neck as been modified a long time ago to put an ebony fingerboard because the stamp is gone. It would have been interesting to see if mine is from the same batch.

Nice looking bass - and it's the "Real" relic finish! If that bass could talk.....

That serial sure looks the same to me. Yup, it was a Friday "smoke more weed and double stamp" Build....Addison wrote:Crazy... unless I'm reading it wrong, that neck was completed on the exact same day as mine!!!

Re: 1975 P-Bass
It's not a serial number so it wasn't double stamped... It's a date stamp/neck type code... So any maple P neck finished on that same day (righty or lefty) would have that identical code on it.
Weed or not, Disco Stu makes great necks!

Re: 1975 P-Bass
Here's a dumb question. I don't own a vintage Fender (though I hope I will eventually), but I do own a newer (12 year old) Made In Mexico Fender. Does Fender date stamp those as well, or was this something that was only done in the "good ole days"? I'd like to find out but I'm too scared to take the neck off of my bass... afraid I'd mess it up or something
thanks,

Re: 1975 P-Bass
I meant date stamp, not serial.... wrong place, Whoops. I know serial is on the headstock.... I was just making a funny. Good your necks good. Some aren't and love some of those oversized neck pockets. My 74' Jazz bass had a router slip in the bridge pickup cavity. Natural finish. "That" was a Friday bass.

I've always thought that the basses made on a monday are the worst onesgravesbass wrote: "That" was a Friday bass.
