Agreed. The white ones don't pop up often.

Did anyone on this board bid on it? Looks like someone did. I was thinking of bidding on it too, but wife was way too skeptical of it, and felt as I was better off just ordering a G&L SB-1 new.

I disagree with your wife!
This looks legit and it is very rare to find a white one. The G&L have a horrible resell value (-45%) whereas you could buy this one and resell it for the same price anytime. Also the split-coil on the SB2 is a little too hot too sound like a real PBass. Now, for the peace in your household you may want to listen to your wife and not follow the advice of a fuzzy French guy.

Silly money. But a rare colour, that's probably the main reason. And you see very few of these that were made after 1999. The 2000-model is more desireable because it is no longer based on the American Standard, but on the American Series that was introduced then. The neck was upgraded with carbon fiber rods and a different finish treatment. Most Hot Rods that pop up on eBay are made in 1999, for some reason it seems Fender made a lot of lefties in that year.

Re: Olympic White Hot Rod Precision
Is the white American Precision legit? I thought the only American made P-Bass was the Olympic White Hot Rod, not just a regular p in lefty. I defer to you all's greater expertise.

I believe the only legit ones are antic white mid nineties. It's slightly yellow-ish. The horrible pictures of this posting does not allow you to assessed that. The bridge with the black screw and springs does look legit. You would want to see the back of the body to make sure it is string-thruvelalv wrote:Is the white American Precision legit? fukaduck mate, I envy you....if i want to buy a new bass i have to do all in the shadow, getting it send to my office and hiding it in the garage, or i get to see my kids for a couple of hours every second weekend.....velalv wrote:Did anyone on this board bid on it?
