POLL: f you could choose a "non-traditional lefty color" ...

Post by Rodent »

If you had the opportunity to choose a color that is not a traditional color scheme for lefty basses, and that color was a choice between these three, what would it be?

NOTE: For this poll, please don't consider these bodies as representative of the manufacturer or style.

Transparent Blue

Honeyburst

thanks for your thoughts! ;)

Of those 3, I'd go for the Honey.

Honey, by far.

EDIT: I hate flamed and quilted tops so it throws it off for me, but looking at the backs of those first two I actually think the transparent blue is pretty cool too.

Of the three I like honeyburst the best, but I'm not really a fan of any of the three.

I'm pretty unimaginative when it comes to finishes, my faves are sunburst, natural, black and white, which works out pretty well since 99% of lefty basses are one of those four.

The Blue and the Honey.

For some reason the Fireburst doesn't really do anything for me.

hmmmm ...

thoughts on a Swamp Ash Jish body (no figured top) finished in Honeyburst?

I don't really care for the black pickguard, and would most likely use a Tortoise pg instead. The question then is Birdseye or Rosewood fretboard

thanks for your continued input!

all the best,

R

p.s. even though the highly figured top is killer, IMO it's hard to justify the added $300 cost

Personally, I would respond with "None of the Above". Though all three are attractive, I'd go with Capri Orange as my first choice of "non-traditional" colors. Graffiti Yellow is also interesting (and it never fails to turn heads or blind people, LOL, and of course, NOTHING beats a P Bass in surf Green. My opinions, of course.

Thanks to everybody who participated and shared their thoughts. I took the feedback from this thread and one other I posted elsewhere, and combined they resulted in a virtual tie between the transparent blue and the Honeyburst ... so I flipped a coin and the Honeyburst won out for the specific body I was considering.

Custom colors are absolutely no problem to do in either Poly or Nitro. If you have an example of a preferred color, it's rather easy to have a body (and even a matching headstock) finished with it.

I like funk when it comes to pretty much anything.... if it looks a little outside the norm, I like it. Colors? tough choice, but the phrase Deep Purple" keeps coming to mind.

I like the honey, it's similar to my Warmouth 5. I always like a yellow bass though.
