Mark Bass Randy Jackson Rig

Did anyone try this rig already? It seems really cool. I love the sound of a good 15" cab. Unfortunately many 15" cabs are not built to be used alone but in a stack along with a 4x10. This one seems to be a real 15" stand alone. The head seems great too.

In an interview for Guitar Center, Randy explains he wanted to get back to the sound of a B15 but with the reliability and portability of a modern rig. In my case it would be my dream rig if it does sound close to a B15 but with more volume.
If successful, this head priced at $799, like an Ampeg Svt7, is going to put a serious dent in Ampeg's marketshare. IMO, Ampeg is like Gibson a poorly managed iconic brand.

my question is does this mean that he plans on doing more live bass work? His playing with Jon luc Ponty and Billy Cobham are great and I would love to hear him go back to that kind of music.

In the interview, he refers to those years as something like "been there done that" and seems to be more incline to hold a more supportive bassist role those days. So, to answer your question, it does not sound like it.

I'm sure he remembers doing so. No matter what you think of AI, his career as a top working musician for decades is well-known.

I have nothing against the guy. In fact, he gets my respects because he makes $$$ doing music. Good for him.

Saw him recently playing on Leno with Steven Tyler/Joe Perry. They played a '70s Aerosmith song (forgot which one).

I gave this rig a shot at the local GC using an Ibanez SoundGear type bass off the display wall (probably a 300). I could see 3 or 4 tubes glowing away but I didn't feel the warm fuzzy sound that I could get from older hybrid amps like SWR SM900 or Eden Travelers. I recall that there were similar observations with the Mark Bass Little Mark Tube 500/800 sounding too solid state. Just wondering if anyone else has been able to give the TTE 500/800 a go and what they thought. I'd give up my Mark Bass 2x10 combo is the TTEs had a nice fuzzy tone, but since it is more solid state sounding I will stick with the portability of the combo.
