Re: Aria Pro II Thru Neck Rare!
Very cool. I have one of those... it's a Aria Pro II TSB650 "Thor Sound" bass. Great playing and sounding bass, neck thru, very high quality construction consistent with all the Aria Pro II product of that early 80's era. The main point of interest about this series was the scale length-- at the time, mid scale (32") basses were being touted as the "best of both worlds" by several Japan builders. Although it seemed to make a lot of sense on paper, the mid scale idea never really caught on big with players the way they thought it would. I think the reason is because if you don't play it very often the scale length does feel a bit strange when you first pick it up. If you're used to either a short or long scale, you initally get a "not sure what it is, but something's not right here" kinda feeling--but you adjust to it after playing it a little while. Of course if it was your only bass that wouldn't be a problem!
