1976 Fender P-Bass

No reserve on this bass and there are a few peeps already bidding on it. It's going to give a us pretty good idea of the market value of those late 70's Precisions Ash/Maple. According to the description, this one does not have the originial pickups and the bridge was replaced too, so not all original parts. We've seen a lot of those on E-bay.

I think in the late 70's, someone got to work one day at Fender, feeling plenty of empathy for us southpaws - maybe after watching a documentary on Paul McCartney - and decided to produce a whole bunch of Natural/Maple Precisions.

76 and 77 were big years for Nat/Maple Pbass production. I have no clue why tho I do like your theory.

There were a bunch of Nat/Maple Jazz's produced those two years as well, but in not so great a number as the Pbass's. I have seen several with blocks and binding. Most of them seem to be hiding under peep's beds.

Not sure about the years, but most lefty '70s Strats I see are almost always clear gloss finish. Yuck. Plus those Strats weigh a ton and have no feeling.

I have a mint condition 78' bridge ashtray with muffle pad underneath off a 78' P bass (have original receipt for the bass it came off too). its for sale for someone interested or if someone needs one.

I would stay away just because of this. Truss rod nut pushed all the way means somebody tried to get the neck straight, and most likely the neck is not straight under normal string tension. All IMHO and speculation. . .
