Ladies and Gents,
I've just received this email from Southpaw Guitars. This might give hope to those needing a lefty Gibson 6-stringer, and perhaps those of us seeking 4-string ones (although this email does not discuss basses) :
New product from Gibson USA Lefty
SG Junior ‘60s - Gloss Finish
Simple and elegant, the SG Junior 60’s is a guitar only Gibson can do. Set neck? You bet! Nitro Lacquer? Right… what’s not to love? Our new baked maple fingerboards have the tactile feel and response of ebony, but with a very traditional warm, brown finish. They’re extremely stable, fast and smooth. We've gotten many calls on these and I need to clarify 4 things.
None are presently built.
Manufacturing is 30-60 days.
We have 16 on order and 7 sold.
We will not be accepting trades on this model

In the topsy-turvy world of heavy rock, having a good solid piece of wood in your hand is often useful...

I love that SG style. I long for the day that Gibson decides to make some Lefty basses... I'd rather buy one than build my own via Warmoth.

Simply gorgeous. Are those made in the US?

AzWhoFan would probably like that SG Junior!
Re: New Gibson Lefty 6-string Guitars
I never really thought of Gibson as a bass company, but I just went to their website and noticed that they currently produce more basses than I imagined. I never see anyone playing a Gibson except for the occasional vintage EB-0.bassmasta76 wrote:I long for the day that Gibson decides to make some Lefty basses.

I see people playing Thunderbirds pretty regularly, although they still count as "cult" basses probably.Retag wrote:I never really thought of Gibson as a bass company, but I just went to their website and noticed that they currently produce more basses than I imagined.
