$2500 BIN..... Do people not understand the "for sale" market is hosed? Greed gets you no sale. That's pretty inflated for a 78' but then there is worse (insert shop names here....)

They're "super hard to find" but you see one of those 78'-83' almost consistently on eBay.

Agreed. 1978 is probably the most prevalent vintage year for lefties. I'm perso0nally getting tired of seeing the same garden variety maple necked Ps again and again, though this one at least has a black pickguard w sunburst. Most you see are a natural finish.

MAtches my 76 Jazz. 8-)

I'm now somewhat resigned to buying modified Fenders and having them refinished. That way, I don't lose much "collector's" value - there is none. :D

I love the brightness and the bite of the mid-70's Fenders, but yes, the color options were thin. I don't like paying "collectors" prices for these - they're not very "collection" worthy imo, but they're great players. Especially live.

Seller must be motivated to move the bass. BIN is gone, the reserve was lowered WAY down. The current top bid is $1200, with the reserve met.

that was the fashion in second half of the 70s ... on the other hands seem that today they take the opposite way, unless you want to spend $$$ on a CS, all lefty models are rosewood ...

IIRC, when you set a reserve with a BIN option, the BIN automatically disappears once the reserve has been met.

So, I'm assuming that the seller had a "fair" reserve and an outrageous BIN, hoping that someone would have a major GAS attack and snatch it up right away.

F Bass BN5 • ZON Legacy Elite 5 • ZON Sonus Elite 5 Fretless • ZON Sonus BG5 • Fender Custom Shop '64 NOS Jazz • Fender Custom Shop '75 NOS Jazz • Fender ADE Precision • Music Man SR4

Props to the seller for keeping the BIN reasonable, upsidedown pics and all. :D

Thing is, it may not be a '78. Some parts might have '79 or '80 dates on them. I bought a '78 with an "S8" serial number that had an '80 date below the pickup. (kinda wish I still had it, tho - good player AND it was siennaburst.)
