if I was playing in a Duran Duran tribute band I'd be all over that

sadly (or is that thankfully?) I'm not, so I'll leave this for one of you to snag up

all the best,

John Taylor is not only an amazing player (probably in my top-5 favorite pop bass player list), but his tastes in bass aesthetics is usually fairly good... he uses lots of transparent finishes, where you can see some pretty tasty wood grains... sometimes figured.

Here he is with his Aria bass he used a LOT through the 80's and still uses today:

He also has a signature Peavey Cirrus model...

And I believe this a pic of him in the studio recording with a Stingray, a la naturale...

Anyway... maybe you're thinking of Bobby Dall from Poison?

Eew.

I think that thing looks pretty cool, but then again I have peace signs and trees and some other crazy sh*t on my bass, so maybe my tastes are questionable.

If I smoked a lot of weed, had dreadlocks and drove a VW bus, that be on that like a starving fat kid on a donut.
Being a lefty is like being a diabetic kid in a candy store. So many incredible things, but you cant touch any of it :(
I play an F bass BN5 (soon to be BN7) and a Conklin GT7 7 string. :)

Punk will never die, but that bass could really injure it.

Reminds me of my first technicolor yawn, 18th birthday, well drunk on Spumante, Vermouth, Creme de Menthe, Baileys & beer, hence the colors. I'm having flashbacks.......
