John Taylor is not only an amazing player (probably in my top-5 favorite pop bass player list), but his tastes in bass aesthetics is usually fairly good... he uses lots of transparent finishes, where you can see some pretty tasty wood grains... sometimes figured.

Here he is with his Aria bass he used a LOT through the 80's and still uses today:


He also has a signature Peavey Cirrus model...




And I believe this a pic of him in the studio recording with a Stingray, a la naturale...
