I never understood why people did this to thier pickgaurd :?

Yeah, I agree. Why would anyone chop up the pickguard? Price is kinda steep for that bass in the condition it's in. Aftermarket pups & bridge and the pg thing. Cool bass though.

Especially when the routing is still visible.

I have 3 1978 P basses that I bought from Southpaw Guitars over the years (when they still had vintage stuff) and I think the most I paid for one was $1250. It's a Sunburst (actually a Sienna Burst) with a solid maple neck/board and it's all original and in great shape. $1500 for a '79 that's been modded (and not well in the case of the pickguard) is a bit too much for me. Although I would probably buy it if I had the $ right now. I just can't walk away from a 70's P bass (or Jazz bass for that matter!)

Relisted with $700 BIN and $500 starting bid the seller found out the body isnt original or even a fender so imo its not even worth the $500 but hey thats just me.
