Trade your Black P P/G for my Red Tort Warmoth P P/G?

Post by bbl »

Looking for a black P pickguard, lefty of course. ;)

I've got a lefty red tort guard from Warmoth. Looking for a black one. Anyone wanna trade?

I did shave a little bit out of the neck pocket corners to make it fit my '74 FrankenP ('74 body and '96 neck). Just a little bit.

Sorry Geoff, I just have a white one...

I think that Warmoth's template is off. I recently ordered one for my 1994 P-Bass and I also had to shave the neck heel.

I'm not sure if their template is "off."

Unless the screw holes and pickguard outlines from all Fender P bodies from 1970's have been very consistent... this is Fender we're talking about. :D

I have a b/w/b one, but a a hole's been added between the knobs for a mini-toggle switch.

Warmoth parts fit Warmoth parts, it's that simple. You will not successfully mate Warmoth with Fender without a wee bit of modification first. Here's my Tumblr blog, just scroll down and you'll find posts on my Sonic Blue PBass build which has some relevance here. Please ignore my other ramblings. Or don't.

Thanks. Nice guard. I'm not adverse to toggle switches, but for this bass I'm looking for std 3-hole.

Here's what it's for. I spontaneously started sanding the finish off a '74 body I bought from the Bay. The existing red tort looks good, but I'm going tung oil/natural finish with black guard (rosewood board - '96 Fender neck).

It wasn't a great sunburst, had no good looking wear, and a bunch of gunk on it.

Great to experience this process that I've only read about. Is that yellow the fullerplast/poly primer? I know that I might THINK I've sanded down to bare wood, but I might find out (at a bad time - when refinishing) that there's still coat on it.
