I'm still in a band here in Pittsburgh called Code Whiskey -covers/originals. our last show was 2 weeks ago in a 3day highschool musical called back to the 80's...really fun to look at sheet music again like an orchestra and watch the conductor, but I would not do it for every gig..too confusing compared to listen-n-learn ( play by ear )

tomorrow and next weekend is a couple local bar gigs, and May 15th is the Pittsburgh Marathon << this will be our 3rd year back.

ya pretty much -- 11 from the 80's and 3 from the 90's
I had 5 from the 00's but they are sold off.

I always did like copying the 80's synth keyboard bass on a string bass.

It's been years since the last time I tried one of those basses but I recall at the time, I always felt the radius was too flat and the neck too thin to feel confortable. It is the Fender syndrome...I am surprised you don't have one of those Steinberger too. I actually really like the feel and the sound of a Steinberger.

My band, a prior i(www.a-prior-i.com), is lining up shows for the summer like crazy. May 21st at the smiling moose, then we got dates on June 25th, July 15th, 17th, and 30th, and are setting up shows in August and early September still. Might travel to Cincinatti to play a show out there sometime too. All Pittsburghers and everyone else invited.

glad you guys have a full schedule Matt :)

Our singers wife is having a baby in mid- July, so no gigs for us until August except for what we have already booked in June.
Nothing past the Marathon this weekend for the rest of May ( thank GOD ) !!!

ya, ya I know the more gigs the more money, but I'm old and it still takes me 2 days to recover from a 4 hour Saturday night at the bar-gigs ;)

Awesome thread! It's inspiring and I love to hear about people in action from my fave online bass community!
Props to Jereon - best wishes with the new sound & lessons.
AzWhoFan - the Who tribute band sounds rad, big shoes to fill there (Entwhistle)!
@ pjmuck - that's so cool you do voice overs! I've been wanting to get into that since I was a lil' jit looking up to Mel Blanc! Wow! Any tips on "getting into the biz"? Gives your avatar pic new significance. =D
AustinLeftyBass - daaaammnn! staying busy! 2 calloused thumbs up! ;-)
ptbass - congrats on your lil' prodigy! =)
Velalv - good vibes!
Cougar-catchers & the rest of the gang - keep the low end love coming!

As for me, I finally got my tuners in under-15-minutes-to-tune working order, (ha ha!) it was actually a change of strings to higher-gauge reg-length Roto RS77LDs that's done the trick, and am learning the basslines from Johnny Ronci's "The Kiss of Life and Death," (just released everywhere online & soon to be sold at Newbury Comics) hoping to put some shows together with him for the summer. No theremin yet...
