Insane Tobias 6'er for an absolutely RIDICULOUS price...

Post by Addison »

http://cgi.ebay.com/Tobias-Signature-6- ... 4aab40d66b

$5,000???

As soon as I saw that price, I was like... I bet a pawn shop is selling that thing, and boom! I was right!

Definitely a killer looking bass... but it has been used and abused.

I don't think it'd sell for much more than $2K in this market.

I love statements on eBay like "just set up by luthier" there is enough dust and filth and dirt in and around the bridge (El Crapo BTW) to plant tomatoes.

"We had a brand new 9 volt battery installed" thanks for the new $2 battery in the bass overpriced by $2,500.
I was looking for the "smoke free studio" one too. I have yet to go into a studio where there is no smoke of some kind...

Gibson did a nice job with mine when I had a 5 string with the super duper plastic nut the size of a flash light.

Oh yeh and 64 ply bubung-hole wood sounds awesome with 13 pounds of glue and high gloss bowling alley paint.

But the best is for last....where the heck is the Bartolini logos on the pickup covers? Should have been an 18 volt preamp too I believe. Maybe some sweet Ibanez junk was professionally installed by the same dude who cleaned the bridge up with kitty litter and used toilet paper.

Dude, you're too much!!

Seriously, though... the bridge on that thing looks like it spent the last ten years as the dryer lint filter down at the local laundrymat.

Is it that hard to give it a quick once-over with vacuum brush attachment before you demontrate how good the macro setting works on your point-and-shoot?

This place is about 5 minutes from my house if anyone wants me to take a look(when he comes back down to earth)I used to own a Tobias 5er I got from Chris Chew but that was pre Gibson so I haven't had my hands on the Gibson era Tobias.I'm gonna stop there after work tomorrow and check it out.

Thumbslam, when you get on a roll...look out! Love it, you ought to write a column on here when the muse hits you. You could call it 'Don't get me started!' or "Don't make me come over there!". I'll subscribe. C'mon, seriously, do it, we need it. :D

I didn't snag her.No way I could handle 6er with a neck that big.It wasn't very clean either had plenty of little blemishes and even $2200 would be too much for that bass in my opinion.
