Yeah this seller always has these up for sale. Very expensive. Glad I bought mine domestically.

oh my bad I thought there (was) an American redistributer that sold for less. My bad, misunderstood

Hey Matt
Are they worth the premium? Are the Japanese basses close enough to the American Standard to be worth it? Or are we just getting hosted for the choices of colors?

I wouldn't pay that price for one personally. I always end up changing hardware and pickups in them, but that's just my personal OCD preference thing. I think they are equal quality wise to the Am Std basses, so I wouldn't pay more than 1200 for a new one. Just my 1.5 cents.

I had one of those back when Ishibashi (Japanese store) was still shipping to the US. I paid $1000 for mine, maybe 5 years ago. Quality is very good, and having binding and blocks on a lefty is cool. What I didn't like was the weight, really heavy bass, and that they still don't have '70s pickup locations - they are '60s. Don't know why they call them '75 Reissues if they are not. I much prefer current MIA Jazzes: better pickups, better hardware, much lighter, come with a really nice ATA flight case. . .
If you are buying a bass for looks, then sure, those MIJs surely come in nice colors, but for playability, sound, and overall quality, I'd still stick to a current MIA.
