I've been lucky enough to buy a bass exactly like that three years ago for something like a third ... seeing how the market goes i'll make $$$ when i'll sell it !!
while it's true that this is far overpriced, it is also true that (IMO of course) those JV p's nails the vintage sound of a p better if compared to a lot other of p's ... i also owned a 78 but to me the JV sounds better ...
I used to laugh like that when 1970s Fenders first started commanding high prices. But the joke's on me now. I suspect this is the same way. Those with money to burn can buy this and I have no doubt will be able to sell it at a huge profit in 5-10 years.
I believe that the "JV" series is the most desirable of the Japanese Fenders, but I don't know if that makes them worth twice the price of a regular MIJ. It might be worth listing for $1000 though.
This does prove however that there were lefties made as early as 1983, a matter of some contention in one of my earlier posts.
Beautiful bass, would love to have it but not at that price

That looks almost exactly like the one I sold about 9 months ago for $700. It was a great bass and weighed just at 8 pounds. This guy is dreaming though.
