Stealth Bongo 4H

Post by bbl »

Fellas, I hate to do this, but I'm selling my brand new stealth Bongo 4H. I know it's not technically "brand new," :) but I assure you it's in brand new condition. I've played it three times since I received it special ordered from Guitar Showcase in San Jose. As you can see from the paperwork, I ordered it in late March 2010 and I received it in late August.

Just a note: the stealth color scheme is a bit unique for lefties - they only offer it on the Bongo (no other EBMM bass) because of the machining required for the painted neck. Why do they offer it for the Bongo? Because a "famous" lefty plays one (I'm guessing Stanley Seargent).

Other than that, it's a standard Bongo 4 H. See pics and let me know if you have any questions. The bass has absolutely no flaws, scratches or blemishes. A used Bongo with no dings, especially on the headstock, seems like a rarity. :)

Pics in next post.

As you can see, it comes with Bongo case and I'll ship it in the original box (if that matters).

As you can also see, I paid $1680 for it (plus 5 month wait) and I'm hoping to recover as much of that as I can. Other than my fingerprints, the bass is flawless. :)

I'm asking $1229 plus shipping (which is 80% of the base price of $1540) to a Paypal-verified account in the US or Canada. I really don't want to ship elsewhere, sorry.

Please let me know if you have any questions. I'm selling it because, since the order, I've bought a Zon Sonus US, a Stingray fretless, and a Ric. I can't keep this one. Thanks.

Sweet bass!!

Tell me about the ZON!!! Do you have any pics? I ask for a very specific reason... 8-)

You can PM me if you want, as to not derail the thread.

Also... just an FYI... I found out a couple of weeks ago that the SR5 is ALSO available lefty in the Stealth color package. I was looking into possibly getting one and both dealers I was working with, along with a direct call to EBMM CS, confirmed this.

The only bass that isn't available stealth is the SR4. That's because the control plate cover, which is black on the stealth SR4, is NOT reversible to use on a lefty bass. EBMM does not stock the black control plate covers for lefty basses, so anyone who wants a stealth SR4 is hosed.

EVERYTHING on a righty SR5 can be used on a lefty, so the stealth package is available on that bass as well.

Anyway... good luck on the sale!!!

F Bass BN5 • ZON Legacy Elite 5 • ZON Sonus Elite 5 Fretless • ZON Sonus BG5 • Fender Custom Shop '64 NOS Jazz • Fender Custom Shop '75 NOS Jazz • Fender ADE Precision • Music Man SR4

That bass is seriously bad ass! I don't think I've ever seen a sharper all black lefty bass. Alas, I'm not in the market for another Bongo right now, but good luck with your sale.

I'm surprised to see this doesn't have the 4-band EQ that's on most Bongo's!
On all other Bongo's I've seen, the EQ-knobs are concentric.

Is that because it only has a single pickup?

Thanks for the heads up on the EQ.

According to the EBMM site, the single pickup design comes with the 3-band EQ, and the dual pickup design with the 4-band EQ. I ordered the single pickup because I had heard that it sounds more aggressive than the dual humbuckers (and allows for easier slapping).

Also, just a note, it has an ebony fingerboard and a matte finish.

Ah, OK. I've seen single-pickup Bongo's with 4-band too, but it turns out they do because they have the piezo bridge. Like this one.

Hey! that's pretty smart: the case can be used for left-handed or right-handed Bongo's with the foam design.

Bump.

If it doesn't sell, I just might put some black string on it to complete the look. :)

I'd say it makes a nice Christmas gift. :D

The ebony board is sweet. It's one of the reasons I went with the stealth.

Sitting peacefully in it's case.

If this was a 5'er it would be gone right now. VERY cool. I think you'r right, the black strings would be interesting. How about some nice DR Black Beauties?
