Oh, no specific reason... it's just that I could only imagine myself ever owning one, and if that was the case, I would rather have fretted than fretless.

Actually, the second Guild bass you posted is more of a sister to my S-60 than the eBay fretless since it's the single pickup version.

F Bass BN5 • ZON Legacy Elite 5 • ZON Sonus Elite 5 Fretless • ZON Sonus BG5 • Fender Custom Shop '64 NOS Jazz • Fender Custom Shop '75 NOS Jazz • Fender ADE Precision • Music Man SR4

FYI, I don't believe the knobs on that auction's bass are original. They look larger than the originals, and don't appear to have the Guild "G" logo on them. (Can't really tell from the auction pix, but they're definitely larger than any I've seen). Look at the knobs on mine and Carmine's.

I remember when those came out. I hated them because I thought they were ugly but then I heard one, specifically the 302 fretless, and loved the tone it is very different that the fretless Jazz or Precision, more muscular! If I had the $$ I'd be all over that E-bay listing!

I was gonna bid but overslept. I sent an offer to the guy a few days back for quite a bit more than what it went for and he declined.

Oh well. :x

Did someone here get it?

I have a B-302 and I love it. Great midrange! I consider it a poor man's Ric!

And sometimes I wish it were fretless.

Love those stock pickups. All mahogony, set neck. Great bass, don't think I'll ever sell mine.
