Yes, my statute of limitation for maximum amount I'm willing to spend on a good sounding turd is $600, excluding all the basses I overspent on that ended up being turds. ;)

A $900 difference in price between a new Dano and a new JJ. Sorry, but I can't justify that much of a price difference for a sound. I would say the same thing about a Rogue Violin bass vs. a Hofner, but that's a debate better left to another thread.

Who pays retail???? I got my JJ Longhorn w/ the extra copperburst finish in a lefty for $825 shipped.
Is it worth it over my reissue Danos, absolutely. I must admit I wouldn't have done the deal at retail.

That's too high. Jerry's Lefty Guitars in Sarasota has a new one for $997.

arrived today with the neck off.

OK, now where do i get started?

the wooden bridge plate doesnt have any indents for the strings, so i guess the strings will make that when tightened.
I have screwed the bridge in, not tight yet.
I have turned around the nut, the nut gaps look angled abit, so i might have to file them straight?
truss rod cover doesnt fit back on with the nut turned around so either countersink the screw or cut a small slice of the truss rod cover back abit

The unfortunate part is the guy forgot to put the neck screws in the package, but he informed me of this and has put them in the post.

How should i start to put the bass together?

Using duct tape? very carefuly?
 Sorry, couldn't resist ...
If it were me, I'd wait until the screws arrive.
And wouldn't it be easier to shave off some of the nut rather than the TRC?

here is the finished bass

after giving up on getting the intonation right , i got an adjustable bridge.
Replaced the tuners with chrome ones.
They are acoustic guitar tuners, because normal guitar tuners would allow for the E string to fit through the hole
took the pickguard off
I found that the chicken head knobs were too easily bumped so i replaced them with jazz knobs i had laying around

Just found out that Jerry Jones is retiring in about a month, and unless an angel steps in, the biz will be shutdown. Danolectro plans on making maybe 100 more instruments before closing. If you want something Danolectro, I suggest you get in touch with Jerry of Jerry's Lefty Guitars ASAP. He is going to try to place an order in the very near future (like today or tomorrow). With any luck, Jerry will be able to scratch and claw his way into placing an order for lefty instruments.

I'm confused by this post. :?: Aren't Jerry Jones and Danelectro two separate entities/companies? Why would Jerry contact Danelectro? Unless he has some licensing agreement with them or something I'm not aware of and he's the only one offering lefties.

The Jerry from Jerry's Lefty Guitars and the Jerry from Jerry Jones Guitars are two different people.

Clarification: "Jerry Jones, maker of the definitive Danelectro style guitars, is closing his shop and retiring"

sorry to have messed with your heads.
