So I finally picked up my new rig, an Aguilar AG500SC powering a DB212 in matching boss tweed. Amazon had excellent prices and free shipping, and my budget got a boost when I found some old bonds that I had forgotten about. I haven't yet had the chance to really crank this sucker up, but so far the tone is kickin!

Looks killer! How does the AG500 sound? Strangely, I've never tried one. Can you compare it's tone to any other amp?

Glad to see everybody loves the TWWWEEEEEEEEEDDDD!

As I said, I haven't had the chance to really crank it up (that will come wednesday), but based on the noodling around I've done on it I would say that the aggie is very warm and punchy with strong, tight lows and highs that are present but not harsh in any way. It's got more of a vintage sound. I'm not well versed on amps so I can't think of any in particular that it reminds me of.

I'll give you guys more of an in-depth update on the sound after the wednesday session I'm taking it to.

So stylish! I guess no one here knew they made tweed - or that you could buy an amp on Amazon LOL!

I've only tried giant Aguilar rigs (separate all tube preamp and power amp units with large cabs) in rental rehearsal studios. Of course they sound amazing, but are totally expensive and impractical for the real world. So looking forward to hearing the review about the Aggie-For-The-Rest-Of-Us ;)

Yeah not only does Amazon sell amps, they by a wide margin had the best availability and prices on Aguilar products versus other online dealers. They sell nearly every Aguilar product under the sun and with nearly every option. Do you want the DB410 in Monster Green in 4 ohms? They've got it. Howabout 8 ohms? Yep. Howabout a matching monster green head case for your AG500? Yep. For your DB750? Hell yes. And free shipping? You bet. I would highly recommend Amazon for amp shopping.

Congrats on the endorsement, Aguilar are good to deal with. Two lefty Aggie endorsees on the board, that's pretty cool.

Just stumbled back onto this thread. I've since joined a band and started playing shows again. I can't overstate how happy I am with my amp. Even running at half its rated power it fills the room no problem. It's very warm, with kind of a vintage thump to it that I find very pleasing. Even at high volumes the aggie manages to insert its wonderful personality into the mix. I give it my highest recommendation.

power, power, power indeed. tons of tone variation. cuts through so well. been getting tons of compliments. i only got to play it for about a month on a tour. afterwards it was in limbo in atlanta since the band i was in broke up. i just got her back about a week and half ago finally after a 5 month battle dealing with the typical helpless band dudes. never been happier.
