Hi all, just wanted to alert the lefty brotherhood and sisterhood of a recent 6-12 month spate of cheaply made and pornographically overpriced lefty stuff on eBay masquerading as Japanese made basses and guitars from Japanese retailers. These are mostly NOT from Japanese stores but rather from parallel importers posing as Japanese shops but actually coming out of HK/China, usually marked as the seller from Japan, Japan or some other non-existent city in "Japan". Of course, most of you are veterans and would probably be wise to these scams but some may not and as we lefties already get slugged for our stuff, I don't want to see these scumbags rip any one off, especially fellow. long suffering lefties. I already put in a "complaint" to eBay but as of now nothing has changed and granted, it's hard to police I guess but just a heads up. I have actually seen and even bid on some good but cheap lefties, all Japanese made, on Yahoo auctions and have seen the same item advertised on eBay a week later at 10-15 times the price they paid at auction. If anyone is really interested in any of the items on eBay listed as coming from Japan, drop me a line here and I'll check it out for you as I've been in Osaka Japan for 30 years, speak the lingo and know the prices you/we should be paying. I'll help out as best I can but ultimately; Caveat emptor! |

Thanks! this is good info and I appreciate you being a contact in Japan for lefty players. Lots of cool lefty basses come from Japan so you're a good contact to have. |

Can you help me find a Grassroots G-VP46B/L preferably in CAR but will settle for black.They are very prevalent in JP from what I can tell and are reasonably priced sans the online world. Would be forever indebted to you good sir. |

This reminds me of the old "Crafted in..." vs. "Made in..." (fill in the country of your choice). Now "Japan" is a city, so "Made in Japan" might be yet another creative marketing ploy. Thanks for the info. |
