i bought this bass in Paris, new, i guess in 1980 , i already have it and never saw another one in left version, i am sure it's not unique but where are they, as for years i searched on the net and never saw one
excepted mine in a UK site concerning the SB basses.
the right version are rare but findable, the left ones seem as it never had existed.

About three months ago there was an SB Black 'n' Gold I lefty on eBay.co.uk, a bass Cliff Burton made famous when he played with Metallica. That was the only other SB lefty I saw, and probably the rarest too as those are even rare righthanded.

Yes, I own a lefty SB900 as well. Mine's a 1980 as well, and my guess is that was the only year that Aria offered them left handed. I've actually been looking for an SB1000 for a while now (The John Taylor bass). I found one a few months ago listed at a UK store, but by the time I called them they had just sold it. :x

great, a sister for my 900.
Concerning that model, i think(but i only think) it's much more rare than sb 1000 even in right handed versions.
I remember when i bought it new that all the customers wanted sb 1000, and not 900 because the préamp system was at this time a very new feature and it was sold more or less at the same price.
For me after trying both models i prefered the 900 but was one of the very few in that case as it was less "à la mode".(up to date or in)
I think that there was much more 1000 produced in right or left versions than 900, ten times more perhaps.
I would like to know the amount of 900 produced, its probably a very small number.
What is astonishing with that matsumoku product is that the left handed case was spécial for leftys, and i do not know other labels doing spécial lefthanded cases for a particular model

Pepiot, I just checked the serial # on my SB900, and it's 007210! :o That's only two numbers later than yours. (I wonder who has 007209?). These were definitely made in the same limited lefty manufacturing run back in 1980, with yours being two basses older in the production line than mine. ;)

Plays gréât, wonderful pb tone on the Neck pickup - but the bridge pickup is very feeble - guess That it needs some adjustments.

if anyone sees any lefty aria basses, i've been looking for one for a long time.
ideally an sb-1000 or sb-600 but i'd consider any of the the models that have the same look.

i keep just missing them :-(
