Well with the handful of basses and guitars I sold off recently (mostly guitars), I managed to not only finish shopping for the kids and pay off some bills, but also treated myself to one of my dream basses. Found an Alembic Epic on craig's list for under a grand and received it a couple of days ago in perfect condition. (Very nice seller, BTW). I know these are considered the budget Alembics, so having never played a higher end model I can't compare, (nor could I justify paying $5000 for a bass), but these Epics are incredible bang for the buck, IMO. Crystal clear, tight tone and effortless to play. These are the ad pix. I'll shoot my own at some point.

$6500!!! Damn, and I thought this was their budget line.

The "good" thing about Alembics (or bad, depending on how you look at it), is their used market value plummets drastically from new, so you can actually own one without selling the farm if you find one used.

Nice bass with a really nice top. I also have a four string epic and it is just a great bass I have yet to play anything that matches it for quality.
