Hi all. I fell in love with the Hofner Verythin Bass.

I briefly googled and found nothing about lefty versions availability.

Any of you knows how to get one (beside buying a right handed one and flipping it) ?

Thank you

M

I contacted Hofner about doing the verythin in lefty a couple years ago and got the "no plans, maybe someday…" brush off response.

well thank you for sharing this info andrew.

actually i wrote them anyway through the contact section of their website, just to see if they changed their mind.

all in all, if the inside of the body is simmetric, it should not be so hard to move the pots on the other side ... but is just my thought

You got me curious, so I Googled an looked at a lot of images for this bass... looks like you could get a left hand bridge piece to swap out, and moving the controls to the other side (besides drilling the holes) would be a delicate procedure... the most challenging part of the move would be to fill-in the old holes, and make them look nice without standing out too much. Cool bass though, especially this model with custom fret markers....

I don't think it would be as hard as it sounds to left-a-fy this bass. I had this done with an old late '60's Eko of mine and it's now a very popular bass in my stable. Here's the original thread on that: http://www.leftybassist.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3994

Definitely do-able in the hands of your luthier buddy, judging by the finished pics of your EKO... Go for it! ;)

Still no reply from Hofner.

Jim @ Southpaw Guitars replied me that lefty version of the verythin bass is not currently in production. Maybe a custom order ? Just wondering.

just to prove to myself that I'm just a hopeless dreamer, I contacted again Hofner wondering what would be the conditions for the production of a left-handed model. They told me that only an order of 250 pieces could fire a run of lefties. Maybe the guy was joking at me or maybe he was just trying to say "no way".
