Responding to tons of PM requests on the stuff I have on CARMINE'S SELL OFF list (thanks guys)! Anyway, looking around to come up with current market prices for some of these has been eye opening to say the least. Yesterday I researched the limited edition Trans Blue Hofner Icon lefty and found out all those limited colors are all gone, just try to find one. Ok that's probably to be expected... but today I go to try to find a price on the LEFTY Yamaha BB614L, and I find out that the BB614L and BB414L lefties have already been DISCONTINUED?! Even more irritating is that of course the right handed versions are still available... :x Those lefties couldn't have been around for more than 2-3 years max?

Sometimes you don't miss 'em til they're gone. I think that was a lyric to some country song or something. ;)

FYI, NJ Guitar and Bass has a used BB414L in stock now and they're asking $350 if that helps:

Ain't that the truth! 10 years from now I'll probbably be kicking myself and trying to find another one for twice as much..... Thanks for the heads up on the 414 at NJ Guitar and Bass, that helps some. Don't know who all else on here has one but the 414 and 614 were certainly very nice basses in their original price range ($449 and $549 respectively)...it's a shame they pulled out of the lefty business but these will make very attractive finds in the used market.

They are great basses, totally underrated. Especially the passive 414. It might become the equivalent of the Ibanez ATK some day. Some celebrity is going to play one and everyone is going to scramble to get a used one.

Very true. I've felt that on more than a few basses in my time.

They're nice indeed, I like the design of those old BB's and the 414 and 614 brought that back. Until then, there was only the BB3000 Michael Anthony signature (and the BB1000MA, the bolt-on version of that) with the old design. I don't think the 414 and 614 will ever reach the status of the ATK or the real old BB's though, those old Japanese BB's were a class all of their own. Wish I could find a lefty BB3000!

Doesn't Yamaha have some new BB models out now that go for like $2500 or something?

I've got a BB1200S and it's a fantastic bass. One of the most versatile single pickup basses ever made, IMO. 3 band active EQ, active/passive switch. I'd love to find a BB2000 someday (Hint hint Carmine!). ;)

You and me both! I love my BB400 and have lusted over the high end MIJ BBs. They do show up on ebay and TB from time to time.
I was excited when Yamaha reissued the BBs and I really wanted one until I found out about the limited color selection, I wanted one in either orange or white, but it was black or nothing.. :x ..pass.
