An awesomly cool and xpensive double-neck

A Stromberg which is a budget line jazz box. It was ok sounding through the crummy demo amp they had on hand. It sounded a lot like a Gretsch 6120.

There were a lot of Taylors on hand. The reps made a point of telling me that it was at Southpaw Guitar's request. Way to go Jimmy! Maybe next year more vendors will listen to you.

No pics, we all know what they look like. But for the record there was a 214: 310CE; 355-12CE; their version of an OM-18 style with maple back and sides - which looked cool but for me was totally unplayable as the neck is damned skinny! - and the last acoustic was the winner for me: a GS8-12.

They also had a T5 and a red electric 2 pickup guitar - no clue on the model. I played neither one. I'm already familiar with the T5 and decided against playing the other one as soon as I picked it up. It weighed a TON!

After visiting the Taylor factory last weekend I have major GAS for one of their acoustics. I have small hands for my size so I wouldn't mind a skinny neck.

The cool ones were Japanese made. A Brian Setzer; a Tennesee (SP) Rose; and a hollowbody G6118T.

The G6118 looks absolutely georgeous under the halogen lighting. It has a nice rich 3D sparkle. Take it out into the sunshine and you'll look at it and wonder what the heck happened to the finish. How do those Japanese builders do it? Makes me wonder what it would look like at my house using a compact CFL???

The dog was an Electromatic signature model. I did not like the matte finish. But hey, it's probably a great guitar .....

My buddy Godfrey Townsend (no relation to Pete. Godfrey's from the USA). He used to play in the John Entwistle Band for years, and I've talked to him a bazillion times over the years. He's now playing with Alan Parson since john passed.

Did you happen to try out the Hagstrom? I'm a big fan of this trend to this look/type of pickup/placement.

I'd advise finding a righty and checking it out first, and comparing it to a Martin OM-style. What I meant about skinny referred to the neck profile. My thoughts about the neck are that it would be great for fingerstyle if you played it like a classical guitar, i.e. with your thumb perpendicular to the centerline of the neck. But as for me being comfortable with hanging my thumb over the edge of the fretboard, faggitaboudit!!
The nut width is 1 3/4, a typical width for fingerstyle.

No, i didn't even take it off the wall to estimate the weight/feel. It faced the main outside aisle of traffic and I was in danger of getting run over while taking the pics.

Pjmuck may have tried it out tho, he's the one who spooted it first and pointed it out to us.

And, saving the best for last:

A lefty Wyn 34 1/2 in scale taper-core-neck bass. Randy uses no CNC at all, he carves everything by hand. I want to thank Rodent for directing me to his booth. The pics have a red tint to them. The AAAAA maple is much more golden in person.
