Hey guys,

I've been poking around the Halo guitar's extensive customizer for a while, and came up with a design I really like and may someday pull the trigger on:

It has a sort of rick/tele thing going on, and as I've never owned a fan-fret bass I thought I would kick the tires on it, and I haven't seen that many classic or retro-styled instruments with fan-fret necks. Local forum-member Wingspan gave a good rundown on what to expect from Halo in his post on the for-sale forum. Essentially he said they are top-notch quality out of China, but the cost is high and you should be prepared to wait up to a year for yours to be built.

Anyway, I'd love to hear what you think and I'd love to see some of your crazy designs!

 Wow, that is pretty slick. I dig it! Is that going to be a 34" scale? If so, you might want to reconsider the Tele body style (or a shorter scale neck?), as it's been my experience that basses with a lack of an upper horn make the first position frets feel a mile away. (Or you could extend a strap bar from the upper strap button as I've seen people do with the ASAT basses...or maybe it's a non-issue for you and I'll shut up now?). I've never played a fanned fretboard either, and really wonder if there's a steep learning curve and what the benefits are.

I'm 6'5" so I don't really see the length being an issue ;-)

Most people I've talked to regarding fanned frets say it takes a little getting used to but then feels very natural.
