My Ric sounds great, flats or rounds. For a long time, I've kept rounds on it because I like the growl I get from them. I wanted to go flats this time. I've used other brands' flats, and somehow was never pleased. But these Labellas are amazing.

I'm a melodic player but keep in the groove. The flats bring melodies out of that bass now, more suited to my style than the sound-o-the-rounds.

One more little thing, and I'll be set. The bass's damper foam was replaced, but for some reason, it only dampened two strings. So I have to find any foam that'll work just to slip under the strings.

That's awesome, man! Being a fellow Rick Head, I am glad you are digging it. That is a popular combination. Having awesome tone is just Heaven.

I use Rotos, but I have heard good things about the Deep Talkin' flats. I actually have a set, I just never put them on a Rick.

I've got a set of black nylon Rotos for backups. I've actually broken a few bass strings over time, so it's good to have some others on hand. Rotos sound pretty good to me.

Sometimes, people hype something, and you think they're just touting whatever they've bought. But these Labellas live up to the hype. And I can't remember whether it was on this forum of Rickresource, but one guy asked something close to "How does Labella keep manufacturing their strings? They last forever."

Flats on a Ric. Worked for Sir Macca, so why not?

I use LaBella Flats on my '72 P bass (The original 1954s or the Jamerson gauge: 076M .052-.110). I love them.
