Day three.... back at it again... I replaced a few of the previous images (the Jerry Jones and a few others) with clearer ones, now trying to finish up getting thru the alphabet, then I'll pick up a few at the end that I missed in the flow the first time ....

Rickenbacker...unfortunately 2 are at the shop but this one's my favorite....

Schecter... these 004s are very nice basses and have that Rick visual vibe going for them. I always thought the contrasting maple neck/ black body and roswood neck /natural body combination looked a bit cheesy on these basses ... since I had one of each I switched the necks around. I may be the only one who thinks so but IMHO they both look classier this way--kind of a yin and yang thing...

Vantage....

In addition to my comments about the 70s' and 80's Ibanez, I'm also a junkie for Matsumoku built brands ...."Uncle Matt" was making some nice lefties back in the day. Like I love Aria Pro, I also I love the Vantage stuff but it's hard to come by in lefty...

Love the Yamahas, I see we string our basses the same way.

Amazing collection! Do you find time to play them all? Can you list your favorites? You've certainly had the opportunity to play many different basses, unlike alot of lefties.

Yes I do actually play them all- not all of them every day of course... but I play at least one every day. I will compile some thoughts on favorites, feel free to ask questions in the meantime. But obviously it's way past time to start thinning this out, maintenance alone is exhausting. You're right, I've had opportunity to play alot of stuff (believe it or not I've sold more than I've kept!), and having the the luxury of not looking to any single bass to do everything, I've come to appreciate a wide spectrum of basses- expensive or cheap, collectable or not- for their own unique identities (and idiosyncrasies). There are folks who favor the more "high end" basses, and nothing wrong with that. I've had my share of those that sucked and $100 basses that were killer. I have one simple rule: If it feels good to you, it is. If it sounds good to you, it is. The rest is all relative. Along with the vintage classics, I actually get the most enjoyment finding affordable basses that are surprizingly good for the price or older less known or underappreciated ones.

My sentiments exactly, and as you know I'm a collector as well. (Though not nearly as obsessed as you, as I ONLY have 65 basses. The next time my wife gives me hell for having too much stuff I'm sending her straight to this thread ;) ). I'm fascinated by every company's unique take on design aesthetics, mechanics, and attempts at innovation, even if many attempts are often a miss (Grabber sliding pickup, for example) as much as a hit (Warwick's adjustable nut, for example).

I have a few dozen questions for you that I'll post in the next few days. Phew!
