this build is just needing a nut cut, strings loaded, string retainer installed, and a final set-up before it's ready to ship off to its new home. I'm really looking forward to hearing how this control configuration works with that MM pickup

and now back to more OT at my day-job :( ... new images next weekend :)

all the best,

Love the way this bass is looking :D Yes it will be very intersting to see how it sounds with the passive control config.

Forgot to note - 8.25 pounds on my postal scale including the strings. This will be very comfy on the extended session 8-)

All the best,

strings installed and pulling just perfect down the neck and across the pickup :D

I'd have gotten the nut cut this afternoon if I didn't get a call to work while I was working this one.

all the best,

:)

I'm not a 5 string player. Saw the neck for this bass in person a few weeks back, the fingerboard looked killer.

Congrat Bhunt! A single MM pickup positioned in the sweet spot is the best config for a fretless. It's gonna sound great, I feel it...

I'm liking the L-1000 inspired controls together with the Nordy MM5.2 and epoxied fingerboard. this one practically plays itself and has insanely low action (which I suspect might be too low for its new owner, but action that is too low can easily be raised ... action that is too high can't always be easily lowered without further set-up work and fret/fingerboard leveling)

all the best,

R

Can't wait to get my hands on it :D
I like low action so that sounds good to me.
I love that fingerboard too :!:

Just got the bass delivered - it is awesome! Very light, really low action, very playable. Just noodled around a bit, there is a wide variety of tones from the 3 position toggle. And the bass boost/omg mode is very similar to my L1000. I love it. The workmanship is just beautiful. If you were thinking of having Rod build you a bass, don't hesitate!
