Howdy Y'all,

I'd like to invite you guys to take a listen to our latest creation before it goes world wide public like. This is the "almost" mastered version. (We're getting our master guy to pull it down a touch. We were going for an old school tape saturated kinda sound but it's still a little hot for my liking.) Anyway, we did this WAY different than we usually do. It's almost completely live off the floor except for the vocals and very few guitar wankeries. Only six songs but it's a full length. (We like to jam out. :D ) I've written a brief outline of how each song was recorded below. Here's the link to the playlist on Soundcloud:

https://soundcloud.com/whitecowbelloklahoma/sets/mixto-sixto

1. Speed King - Deep Purple cover we've been playing in the encore for the last couple of tours. Recorded live off the floor at a studio owned by our friends in Zeus - another great Canadian band from Toronto. No overdubs at all except the vocals. I used the DI on my Fender Super Bassman 300 for this. Overdrive channel with lots of oomph. Fender Hotrod P with GZR EMG passive pickups.

2. Kansas City Pity - Wrote and recorded this while hanging out between festival gigs in Leiden, Netherlands. We swapped a gig at a local club for recording time. (Muziekhuis) Live off the floor except for vocals and some of the lead guitar. I used a Sansamp Bass Driver set pretty clean as DI #1 and my EHX Deluxe Bass Big Muff Pi set to DIRTY as DI #2. Kramer DMZ4000 bass with EMG PX pickups.

3. Keep It On The Rails - Recorded at the Zeus studio in Toronto. We kept this as live as possible but we had one of our three guitarists missing that day and had to do some extra guitar overdubs. Same setup for me as in song 1.

4. Screamin' For It - Recorded at the Zeus studio in Toronto. Live off the floor except for the vocals. DI from Fender Super Bassman, vintage clean channel. '69 Eko short scale hollow body bass, flat wounds and - very microphonic - single coils. (We were trying to do our best Screamin' Jay Hawkins impersonation here.)

5. Keepin Six (Take Me Down To Mexico) - Recorded at Muziekhuis in Leiden, NL. Mostly live except vocals and guitar solo-y bits. I used the same set up as in song 2.

6. Magic Fingers - Our take on a Zappa tune from 200 Motels. We've been playing this live for a couple of tours. Recorded absolutely live, during a show at the Winston Kingdom in the heart of Amsterdam's red light district. (We didn't even know the sound guy was tracking it until after the show.) Bass was from the DI of an SVT-CL. Custom fake Gibson Thunderbird. Bartolini T4CBC-B in the neck and T4CBC-T in the bridge, both full on.

All the tracks were mixed at the studio owned by - yet another great Canadian band - Sloan, by us and our buddy from Zeus.

Hope you all enjoy. Feel free to critique, applaud or otherwise ignore.

Haha. Thanks Marc. We'd love to do a proper tour in the US but getting six people plus a driver on the road down there - as Canadians - is tough. It's actually WAY easier - and much more lucrative - for us to tour regularly in Europe. Even Canada is a break even prospect for us on tour. We've played SXSW a couple of times and done some gigs around the US side of the great lakes, but that's it. Fingers crossed. Maybe one day we'll get to Arizona and beyond. (We've played with the Supersuckers a few times up here and have some very good mutual friends but so far it hasn't been in the cards.)

Thanks again for the props.
