Hello to all!

I have not listed a few basses here in the past and I do apologize! I am going to list this here first to see if there is any interest.

This bass started life as a 2007 Fender Jazz bass special Edition ash body model that was trashed when I found it. I had at first thought about parting it out, but reconsidered as there was nothing to lose! someone at some point painted it a house paint or black light green, but not before chiseling out a spot for a Bartolini Musicman pickup. They then made a really bad diamond plate pickguard and mounted it with large wood screws.....the type used to hang door hinges. After that they sanded it down, removing the green paint, original finish along with some wood from the body. I have no idea what they had on the headstock, but put two more holes there. The hardware was completely trash and could not be used and may not have been safe to handle!

I thought the bass would be a nice 1960 tribute bass with an aged Olympic white finish, no saving the original look. What was done was, route the damage area around the front pickup, add a piece of ash (the pickguard would cover) and route for a Jazz bass neck pickup. Sanded the body to soften the poor work from before. Added Fender pickups, stacked knob controls and plate, new pickguard, hardware and bridge and pickup covers. The body is Nitro, and the headstock logo is period. I also put the original serial number on the back of the headstock. Currently have an old set of flat wounds on her.

Please take a look and let me know of any questions. There is no case, but will be boxed properly for shipping. Shipping is free to the USA and sorry, but the sale is to the USA only. I am asking $450.00 or Best/Reasonable offer.
Thanks! Bill

Should have also included, the tuners are chrome and not nickel. The bridge is stock, but the saddles are Threaded rod type. The bass weighs 10.8 lbs.

The bridge pickup is a Fender Custom shop and I don't remember what the neck pickup is.

Thanks!

I have been noodling around with the bass in my office through a Hartke Kickback 15 and it really sounds Great with the flats. The pictures really don't show the bass in natural light, but the finish really came out as it was meant to. The neck pickup cover was installed slightly forward to not look out of place, but also to allow finger style without the covers really being in the way.

bill, I'm curious what the hole was there for... I wonder if whoever "modified" it, put a selector switch there?

if i'm not mistaken,i believe the body was originally Mexican made, so that hole you see is there from the CNC machine. all of the mexican bodies have it from what i know. I know my mexi Jazz has one for sure :)

looks great though. how heavy is the bass?

Hi Bill,

Great recovery work, how’s the sound and playability?
The action?
Do you have any sounds samples available?
Cheers,

Matt

Wow Bill, great bass, and great price reduction! I've bought several basses off Bill (killer 5-string Alembic, with drop "B" tuner no less! And a nice Squire P-J with fretless neck...), and the prices have always been fair, and the basses delivered in great condition, with Hipshot add-ons!

Don't hesitate - the bass will be out-standing! :D

Thank you for all the questions!

This bass is no longer for sale. I have been playing this bass daily to keep it fresh if someone might want it........sadly, I have found that, that someone is me. This thing sounds really good and I think that I will keep it for awhile longer. Thanks again!

Once again, player's remorse pulls a nice bass off the market... haha! :D
