I recently tried a brand new 2011 standard model (at $3300, no maple top - $3700 for maple tops) and I can say the neck was nowhere near as nice as my bass, and the action could not be setup as low. These older Lakland really do have some magic. Not to sound like a used car salesman, but this bass is a real gem.
