Holy crap..... despite being a die- hard punk and metal guy, I’ve always had a soft spot for the Cranberries. As a kid growing up in the UK at the height of the troubles, and having two close calls with an IRA cell trying to take out the Army and Navy recruiters next to my favorite record shop, I always appreciated the Cranberries and others such as Stiff Little Fingers speaking out...... Dolores was my age, and a typical feisty Irish lass who took no shit from anyone. RIP young lady, I will not forget you ..... sláinte!

Much too soon...
I remember when Zombie first came out, I was only 11 years old but it had such an impact. I hadn't been aware of the situation in Northern Ireland up until then, but all of a sudden everyone appeared to talk about it. I had heard of the IRA, but never before realized what was going on exactly. The Cranberries brought it to the attention of a much larger audience. The haunting video for the song helped a lot too.

Another briliant star dulled..... If there's a rock and roll heaven you'll know they got a hell of a band.......

You may not know this but Paul McCartney put out a great song just out of the beatles called Give Ireland Back To The Irish. It was banned in the UK

I saw The Cranberries live in Central Park during their height back in the 90's. It was cathartic, unforgettable experience.

R.I.P. Dolores

"Haunting" is exactly the way I would describe her voice. It was like nothing rock music had ever heard at the time. The song of theirs I really loved, though, was the version of "Dreams" from the Woodstock 94 album.

I never knew how old she was but I'm shocked even now to learn that she was only a few years older than I am/was. That voice was larger than life.
