The guitar may very well be legit. I found this blog online: Scroll down the page to see possibly the same guitar and owner info:

The site states that he used it as a practice guitar in hotel rooms, though never on stage because he preferred to play righty flipped guitars, since he preferred having the control knobs and tremolo on top. The only photo I've ever seen of Hendrix actually playing a lefty guitar was this one, a Black Widow:

Still, $450,000 for this guitar is ambitious to say the least.

It's probably legit, but I think what folks here were scoffing at a bit was the seller's comment that "Its as it was when it was Jimi's. and it is still strung lefty", when clearly it's strung righty in the pic!
