I don't get how that would work at all. Wouldn't the bass spin face forward the minute you let go of it?

Right, and the bass is pretty much stuck to your belt. It seems pretty silly. It just reminded how we always complain about right-handed players using lefties and drilling a hole in the lower horn.

If weight is the issue, a Mono "Betty" strap is a much better solution
