The GAS expression was orginally invented to describe Lefty007's condition... ;)

I'll play.

My GAS is usually fueled by my work travel (you would think it's the other way around!) Whenever I travel for work, I will call every store I can in an area to see what lefty basses they might have since it is so hard to find good product. My local shop, Washington Music Center, usually will keep a two lefty five stringers in stock, as well as some 4, usually Fender or Musicman. That is much better than most other places.

Anyhow, when I was in Arizona I got to a great local shop called Milano's, and played a Fender Jazz that I fell in love with. After months of begging my wife for it, we finally got it for Christmas a few years ago. I absolutely love it, and will be selling it to fund my next bit of gas, a Regenerate 5 string bass.

I was out in Seattle a couple of times and happened over to Rod's place and he had a lovely 5 string P-Bass. I had never played a 5 er, but it felt so right. So now, I placed an order for one.

I also had a chance to travel to Southpaw Guitars in Houston a couple of times. That was fun! Played ALL of the their basses over two days, and had absolutely no serious GAS for anything in stock that would cause me to give up my Fender Jazz. However, I played some of the Martin acoustics and got gassin for those, including the brushed aluminum model. I ended up getting a BC 15 Mahogany body acoustic as a Christmas gift from my dad as a surprise!

I did not have amp GAS until I started playing out more with church, and now with my wife. I had a cheap no name model as my home amp, and was using an old Peavey at my mine church. We decided to just get the best possible amp, and ended up with a Aguilar TH 500 and Bergantino CN 112. No AMP gas since. If I get anything else it will just be a second cabinet.

I'm lucky I live in Israel.
the only lefty bass I've ever seen in stock is either a 4 string squire (I'm not a big fender fan)
or those flabby Ibanez sgr 5 ers. whose b string just lays there like like some elevator cable or someshit.
it most certainly doesn't ring out.
