2/22/2013 In a robbery last night at Southpaw Guitars in Houston, TX, 11 left handed Gibson guitars were stolen. This is the second time the store was broken into over the past two weeks. The guitars stolen last night are all LEFT HANDED guitars, and were stolen without cases. A list of the guitars stolen last night with serial numbers if available: Gibson Les Paul '58 Reissue Red Finish (S/N 81003), Gibson Les Paul '58 Reissue Ice Tea (S/N 81511), Gibson '57 Goldtop Reissue (S/N 70085), Gibson ES-335 Figuretop Cherry Red, Gibson ES-335 with Bigsby Cherry Red, Gibson ES-335 Light Burst, Gibson ES-335 Vintage Sunburst, Gibson ES-335 Figured Vintage Sunburst, Gibson ES-336 Figure Top Tangerine Burst (S/N CS103222), Gibson SG Standard Wine Red, Gibson SG Standard Ebony. As I said, all are left handed, and all are missing cases. A list of guitars stolen in the earlier burglary is being put together.

Yeah this almost sounds like a reprint of the same story from last year. Nothing on their facebook page about it like they did last time so this might be a false alarm..

Well that's a relief. I was just about to say if they were robbed 2 more times again then Jimmy might just wanna consider a different line of business.

At least they didn't get any of the lefty basses. ;^)

...or a different location.

I visited the store about 10 years ago on a business trip to Texas (it was the only thing I wanted to see in Houston  ). What a dream! Soooo many lefties in one place.

I lived in Houston for many years and consider myself pretty fortunate to have been able to go to Southpaw on a regular basis (that's pretty much the only thing fortunate about living in Houston, except for maybe the food), and I can tell ya that they are located in a pretty shady part of town. I always wondered, thirty years in the business why they never relocated to a nicer neighborhood. Most of their business comes from out of state (as far as I understand at least) so it wouldn't particularly matter if they were in a slightly different part of Houston with less shootings.
