about 6 months ago i tried out for a prog-metal band and after jamming with them for a month they told me they liked me but they wanted someone that played 6 string so they could nail those dream theater(groan) covers. well yesterday i ran into the guitarist and after talking for alittle bit i asked him if they ever got a 6 string bassist. "yea" he said "we only have him use it for like two songs now though" it raised my curiosity, so i asked why "well we started out with him just on the 6 but we made him go out and buy a jazz bass cause when you were jamming with us it sounded so good we wanted to get that sound"

oh yea everyone loves a jazz bass GO FENDER!

You sure are a good sport about it. Of course it sounds as is you are lucky to have not
gotten the gig.

yea it would seem that way lol. But on the plus side converted them from their "our old bass player had an ibanez soundgear bla bla bla" into actively persuing the almighty jazz bass sound so im very content knowing that.

OTOH sounds like there's no good reason that you didn't get the gig. If they made him buy a jazz, why didn't they a) just get you or b) make you buy a sixer? LOL just hits my funny bone, that's all. Good job not being a whiner ;)

theres nothing to whine about to be honest. While the band itself is good the music they are doing is just not where my head is at and the only reason i tried out for them was because i was in a new town and wanted to get my feet wet, when i first moved to my current residence i was trying out for every type of band you can think of, i got to jam with cool people and got to see what this city is about musically speaking.

Great attitude! Every experience is a learning experience. Plus, you handled yourself well, and those musicians will recommend you later on down the road as a cool head to play with. The cosmos will reward you!
