I wonder if the 'SS" in the shop name refers to Steve Stern, former owner of Chicago Music Exchange?
Nice bass btw!

Considering the condition, I'd make an offer closer to $5k and see where that gets you. A few '66 lefty Ps have shown up over the past year or so and all were in better condition and sold for far less. In fact, I almost got this one for $4700 and went down to the store with cash in hand, but it had already sold the day before.

I love it. Love the wear on it. I don't know where they were hiding for the previous couple decades but in the past two years I've seen 4 1966 lollipop tuner lefty precisions. All sunburst. Seems it was a thing for '66.

My sunburst lefty P has the ovals. Neck date Feb 67. Pretty rare from what I hear. Apparently 1967 was a slow production year even for righties.

I have some pics of the neck date stamp somewhere but can't find right now so you'll have to take my word for it. I did all the relic work myself. Only took me about 50 years!

WOW, just amazing! The best part is as you said you did all the relic work yourself over 50 years. I never understood relic basses, they try but somehow never quite get it right. Nothing beats a real relic.
